- CUSTOMER REQUESTS THAT DIAGNOSTIC BE PERFORMED
- TECHNICIAN – Test drove vehicle, inspected operation & found; Engine was overheating / L4. – Inspected for dash/warning lights, found; None – Scanned computer control modules & found; No Codes – Inspected & found; Verified coolant level full. No external leaks found. Tested the radiator cap, cap failed pressure test, tested system with a good cap, vehicle still overheating. Tested radiator with temp gun and found normal temperatures with variance of approximately 25 degrees from right to left side. Confirmed the motor cooling fan working well and as designed. Performed combustion chamber leak test, test passed. Confirmed that the water pump is working properly. Removed thermostat and inspected operation and found spring was off center and blocking the thermostat holding the thermostat in the closed position. And found jiggle valve also held in closed position with no bypass flow. – Determined / Suspect; Faulty thermostat, compromised sensor and worn out radiator cap. – Recommends; Starting with replacing thermostat with housing, coolant temp sensor and radiator cap and then re-test to see if there are any further concerns. ***FURTHER DAMAGE POSSIBLE***
- TECHNICIAN INSPECTED AND FOUND: – LOF sticker shows next oil service is/was due at 158,851 miles. – Engine oil level & condition; Full, Brown / L3, Overdue per sticker, Recommend performing an oil service. – Front brake pads at approximately; 4mm, 30% = Due. Recommend replacing front brake pads and rotors. – Rear brake pads at approximately; 4mm, 30% = Due. Recommend replacing rear brake pads and rotors. – Inspected for dash/warning lights, found; None – Scanned computer control module and found; No Codes – Transmission fluid redish/brown / L3 = Due. Recommend performing a transmission service (Pan Off).
- Technician removed Intake air tube to gain access. Removed and replaced thermostat housing with thermostat, thermostat gasket, coolant temperature sensor and coolant reservoir cap. Topped off coolant, verified full and at correct level. Cleaned affected area. Test drove. Verified repair.
- Technician performed oil service: Drained engine oil, installed new oil filter and filled with premium engine oil. Cleaned affected area. Performed courtesy vehicle inspection. Road tested. Verified service. No leaks. Installed next lof reminder sticker in window. Reset service reminder if applicable.
- Technician removed front wheels, unbolted calipers, cleaned, lubricated, and reinstalled caliper pins. Removed and replaced front brake pads and rotors, with lubricated backing plates. Reassembled all components. Reinstalled all wheels, torqued all lug nuts. Road tested. Verified repair.
- Technician removed rear wheels, unbolted calipers, cleaned, lubricated, and reinstalled caliper pins. Removed and replaced rear brake pads and rotors, with lubricated backing plates. Adjusted parking brake shoes, if applicable. Reassembled all components. Reinstalled all wheels, torqued all lug nuts. Road tested. Verified repair.
- Technician performed transmission service and inspection: – Removed transmission pan and drained transmission fluid. – Inspected transmission fluid condition, found; Dark / L3. – Inspected transmission pan for concerns, found; No concerns. – Cleaned transmission pan including magnet, installed new transmission pan gasket and transmission filter, reinstalled transmission pan, filled with synthetic transmission fluid. Inspected for leaks. Road tested vehicle. Verified Service. – Recommends; Performing transmission service again in approximately 30,000 miles.
