- CUSTOMER REQUESTS THAT DIAGNOSTIC BE PERFORMED
- TECHNICIAN – Test drove vehicle, inspected operation & found; Engine runs very rough. Check engine light flashes. Did not test drive. Rolled into shop. – Inspected for dash/warning lights, found; Check engine light is on. – Scanned computer control modules & found; ECM ** P0303 Misfire cylinder 3 ** P232A TCM request Force ignition shutdown. ** P0203 Fuel injector cylinder 3 open circuit. – Inspected & found; Monitored misfire counter via scan tool. Verified cylinder 3 is actively. Removed upper engine cover to gain access. Removed spark plugs and performed compression test. Cylinders have good compression. Spark plugs worn/L2. Not quite due for tune up. Found signs of critters chewing on wires. Upon further inspection found the harness for cylinder 3 fuel injector was chewed through at the connector. – Determined / Suspect; Will need to replace connector before further testing can be performed. – Recommends; Replacing connector and testing for further issues related to misfire.
- TECHNICIAN INSPECTED AND FOUND: – LOF sticker shows next oil service is/was due at 70,000 miles. – Engine oil level & condition; Full, clean – Front brake pads at approximately; 5mm – Rear brake pads at approximately; 5mm – Tire Dot code 1326 -Tire tread; Front 13/32, Rear 13/32
- Technician replaced the harness and connector for cylinder 3 fuel injector. Cleared codes and started engine. Monitored misfire counters via scan tool and verified no further misfires. Let engine idle for 20 minutes to clear cylinders. Reassembled components. Road tested and verified repair. No further misfiring or rough running at this time.
