- CUSTOMER REQUESTS THAT DIAGNOSTIC BE PERFORMED
- TECHNICIAN – Test drove vehicle, inspected operation & found; Vehicle drove well at first. When in top gear and the torque converter clutch is locked in, the engine misfires badly/L5. This is a large load on the engine. – Inspected for dash/warning lights, found; "Check Engine" light flashes. – Scanned computer control modules & found code; ** P0300 Random misfire detected. ** P0301 Misfire cylinder 2 detected. – Inspected & found; Monitored misfire counter via scan tool while driving. Found cylinder 1 misfires badly and cause a pulsing/tugging feeling / L5 while driving. Worse under load. Tested ignition coils with special tool and cylinder 1 coil fails test. Removed spark plugs and found the cylinder 1 spark plug worn L2-L3. All others L1 wear. Throttle body dirty /L3 – Determined / Suspect; Faulty ignition coil on cylinder #1 which caused the spark plug on cylinder #1 to wear out prematurely. – Recommends; Recommends replacing all 4 ignition coils, spark plugs, clean throttle body and perform fuel injection service to resolve issue. ***** DON'T RECOMMEND DRIVING UNTIL ISSUE IS RESOLVED. FURTHER DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. *****
- TECHNICIAN INSPECTED AND FOUND: – LOF sticker shows next oil service is/was due at 159,975 miles. – Engine oil level & condition; Full and clean – Front brake pads at approximately; 8mm – Rear brake pads at approximately; 7mm
- Technician performed engine tune-up. Removed and replaced all spark plugs and all ignition coils. Removed air box and intake tube to gain access to the throttle body, thoroughly cleaned throttle body. Reassembled all components. Added fuel injection concentrate to the fuel system. Ran engine and cycled cleaner through the fuel system. Test drove. Verified repair.
