- CUSTOMER REQUESTS THAT DIAGNOSTIC BE PERFORMED
- TECHNICIAN – Test drove vehicle, inspected operation & found; Vehicle drove well. "Low oil pressure" warning came on during test drive. No ticking noises heard. Oil pressure gauge went to zero. Cycled key and pressure went back to 30-40 psi. Issue only happened once during test drive. – Inspected for dash/warning lights, found; Check engine light. – Scanned computer control modules & found codes; ECM/PCM **P0521 for engine oil pressure sensor performance (current) – Inspected & found; Performed fault tracing as outlined related to code. Removed oil pressure sensor & screen, found screen has debris / L2 – L3. Verified connector on sensor good. Jumped grey wire to tan/ black wire and found scan tool showing 90 psi. Verified circuit was good. Fault tracing shows first step related to this issue would be to start by replacing the oil pressure sensor and screen, based on findings. Then if issue returns/persists then fault tracing indicates the next step is to replace the VLOM Assembly (valve lift oil manifold). – Note: VLOM assembly is known to leak oil pressure internally into engine assembly – Recommends; Starting with replacing the oil pressure sending unit/sensor and screen. Then retesting. If issue persists then the next step is to replace the VLOM assembly. ***FURTHER DAMAGE POSSIBLE***
- TECHNICIAN INSPECTED AND FOUND: – LOF sticker shows next oil service is/was due at 290,000 miles. – Engine oil level & condition; Full. Good. – Oil leaking at oil cooler seal / L3. Engine oil is dripping off the transmission onto the ground. Recommend replacing oil cooler seal and cleaning affected area. – Front brake pads at approximately; 7mm. – Rear brake pads at approximately; 4mm, 30% = Due. Rotors rusty / L3 with lip / L3. Recommend replacing rear brakes pads and rotors. – A/C compressor clutch melted / L5. Recommend replacing ac compressor and retesting system. – Inspected for dash/warning lights, found; "Service park assist". – Scanned computer control module and found codes; PARK ASSIST MODULE **B0958 for park aid rear sensor 1, circuit short/open circuit **B0961 for park aid rear sensor 4, circuit short/open circuit Recommend taking to body shop for diagnostics and repairs. ECM/PCM Below codes not likely related to current low oil pressure light. **P0562 for system voltage low history) **P0573 for brake switch voltage (history) **P0621 for generator terminal "L" circuit (history) All codes are history codes, noted battery and alternator appear fairly new and are these codes were likely related to issues prior. – See age/mileage disclaimer. Vehicle has 285,708 miles on it.
- Technician removed and replaced oil pressure sensor. Cleared code. Test drove vehicle. No issues present. Let idle for approximately 1/2 hour then test drove again. Let vehicle rest for about 1 hour then test drove again. Verified no oil pressure messages present on any test drives and verified related code did not return. – Note: If "low oil pressure" message returns and/or code **P0521 returns. Recommend to stop driving immediately and take to shop for further repairs.
- Technician removed and replaced engine oil cooler seal. Cleaned affected area. Topped off engine oil. Test drove. Verified repair.
